Jesus Ruins Everything: Nicodemus
In the Bible, we read story after story of people who, after having an encounter with Jesus, had their view on things like money, religion, and self-image change. Jesus showed them a different way than the one they knew, and once they saw it, they couldn’t unsee it. You could say that Jesus ruins everything, in the best possible way.
Here are some questions to help you process this message and apply it to your life:
1. For Thanksgiving dinner, would you rather have:
Cranberry sauce with the berries in it, or cranberry jelly (the smooth stuff)?
Apple pie or pumpkin pie?
Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip?
2. Do you remember a time when you asked a “dumb question” and then regretted it?
3. How about a situation when you asked a “dumb question” and you were glad you asked?
4. What questions popped into your head after hearing that message about Nicodemus?
5. It seemed like Jesus ruined religion for Nicodemus. How could (or how has) Jesus ruined religion for you?
6. Nicodemus had different points in his journey with God (from sneaking around in the dark to standing out in the light). How would you describe where you’re currently at in your journey with God?
